About and contact

DistrictDocs brings together 34 years in emergency services and 30 years in information technology. It was built for a working fire district first, and runs there every day.

Who we are

DistrictDocs was founded by Ross Thornhill, an elected fire commissioner in New York, with 34 years in emergency services, 24 of them in the fire service, and 30 years in information technology.

That pairing is the point. We know what a district secretary faces the week of a meeting: the notice that has to be up on time, the minutes waiting for approval, the archive in a filing cabinet. And we know what it takes to keep a website running, backed up and checked, year after year, without anyone at the district having to think about it.

The software was built for a working fire district first, and the district uses it every day. DistrictDocs now offers it to other districts, set up and looked after, so the only job left is posting the records.

Your records are never locked in

Your administrator can download a complete backup of every record and every file at any time, without asking us. If you ever leave, you get a complete export at no charge, and your web address stays in your district's name throughout.
